This session explores the essential conditions for a responsible, inclusive, and just transition to a circular economy, over a wide range of factors such as technological advancements, geopolitical dynamics, and societal influences. We will illustrate a series of case studies, presenting exemplary ‘best’ practices as well as cautionary ‘worst’ practices in CE initiatives, all evaluated through the point of view of social and environmental justice. Additionally, the presentation will feature an innovative Decision Support Tool (DST), designed to present and analyse the impact of supply chains of vital sectors like food production, waste, and water management, offering a comprehensive view for enabling the transition to a sustainable and just Circular Economy.
