The MedWaves, the UNEP/MAP Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption
and Production will organise an International Workshop entitled “Boosting a Just
Transition in the Mediterranean: From Research to Action”.

This event provides a space to discuss the prospects and challenges of a Just Transition
to a Circular Economy, including perspectives on key issues such as gender, labor and
global value chains, the technical geopolitical and social factors that drive the
transformation and its relevancy to international policy agendas. The event will draw
upon forefront insights derived from “JUST2CE: A Just Transition to the Circular
Economy” program, an ambitious research and innovation partnership funded through
the Horizon 2020 scheme uniting 14 partner institutions encompassing the scholar,
practitioner and policy-making expert communities of 10 target countries belonging to
European and African Regions. The cross-geographical approach offers the consortia
with a distinctive opportunity to cultivate diverse perspectives on complex challenges,
which carry global-scale implications.
